God, Send Me Your Location!

Written by:

Maybe you’ve heard the popular song by Khalid, Location.

It goes:

“Send me your location
Let’s focus on communicating
‘Cause I just need the time and place to come through
Send me your location
Let’s ride the vibrations
I don’t need nothing else but you!”

I don’t know about you, but I like to think that a lot of songs are actually about God.

Especially love songs, since they oftentimes don’t have a name attached to them – I attach them to God and sing them for Him.

Most of the songs you hear on the popular media are really about worldly concepts and people, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t plug God’s name into it to have almost any song, especially love songs, as a song of worship.

Imagine if Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing” was about Jesus.

How powerful!

This form of worship might be able to transform any song on the radio, or any song of your favorite artist into your favorite song of praise.

I digress – but maybe try it!

This blog post today is not about music.

It’s about location! And I will come back to the lyrics above in illustrating my point a little bit more, artistically.

Location is an indepth topic, yet also very common-sensical.

Location is a fundamental aspect of a person’s life.

In the Bible, we see various patriarchs and prophets asked to move to certain places as God willed them.

Many times these men of God went to and fro, from one place to another!

Imagine hopping around the country as many times as Jesus did, with the press continually on your back!

A person’s location dictates so much of their life.

Have you ever asked God where you should be at, geographically?

Would you be willing to up and move at the drop of when God tells you?

I’m not talking about “where you’re at in heaven,” as in “we are seated with Christ in heavenly places” (Ephesians 2:6).

I’m not super-spiritualizing this concept, but instead talking about your concrete, physical address in this blog post.

Location has a huge effect on your life.

Location plays a big part in who you are.

I’ve heard it said, “bloom where you’re planted”.

Yet, what if you’re not in the right spot?

You might not think twice about it, chalking it up to “God placed me here, this is where I’m supposed to be, I’m not supposed to be anywhere else.”

That’s fair, but hear me out.

God sent out Abraham from his home country into the land which He promised to him and his descendants.

Jesus moved a lot in his childhood and ministry.

It was all prophetic.

Joseph (the coat of many colors) had to be displaced by force.

And many of the 12 apostles had to leave the place they were originally at to go to the place where God was sending them.

Paul, Timothy, John, the list goes on.

They followed this word spoken by Jesus, “when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish (John 21:18).”

I can’t help but think about the amount of people who stay in one place their whole life.

When I hear about people who’ve never been on an airplane before, or have barely even left the state, I realize how foreign a concept relocation is to SO many people.

Not that everyone should move, but this blog post is to post the question, and posit the idea:

What if God has a better place for you?

What if God wants you to be in X city, but you’re in Y town?

Why aren’t things working out for you where you’re at?

May God be trying to tell you something, or move you somewhere else?

Has Christ told you, through the Holy Spirit to go someplace, or do something before?

Did you do it?

How did it turn out?

Can you still take action on hi past command?

Does God change His mind? Hmmm.

Have you ever tried asking God where you should be at? Hmmm…

Through my Holy Spirit-led travels to Fresno California, Dallas Texas, Atlanta Georgia, Savannah Georgia, New Orleans Louisiana, and even the outer-Detroit-area, I have found out about the differences and the reasons of moving to where God is sending you.

There’s nothing like being at the right place at the right time.

This is doing the will of God in the micro.

I always thought, even to the point of unecesarily worrying myself –

Am I where God wants me to be at the right time?

Am I talking to the person I should be talking to right now?

Are we talking about the things we should be talking about?

It took me a while to realize that those thoughts are actually indicitive of the Holy Spirit showing me a deeper principle – the Will of God.

God’s will is a concept often thought about in the macro, in the grand scheme of things, where He comes down in the form of Christ the King to establish His Kingdom on earth, the ressurection of the saints, a reign that will never end…

But paired down to the micro, God’s will in your individual life is where you’re at right now in time and space.

Who you are right now.

What you’re doing.

Who you’re doing it with.

Why you’re doing it.

What effect is coming out of what it is you’re doing.

In my opinion, if these things are done in obedience to God – I mean daily, hourly, by the minute obedience, through conscious communication with our mighty and matchless God, then you’ll be walking in His perfect will for your life constantly and consistently.

It’s a beautiful thing when seeming coincidences happen, but you KNOW they’re not coincidences.

And these seeming “coincidences”, happen all of the time when you’re walking in God’s plan for your life.

When God has His finger on your life, or you’re “annointed”, supernatural things happen.

So many people think about doctrine, theology, blada yada yada ya, but few people pair it down what they’re doing right then at that moment.

Is God involved in the intimate details in our lives?

It takes a prophetic mind, in constant communication with God, through the Spirit of the Lord, to think on these things.

A truly spiritually minded person.

Not religious specifically, but perceptive to the unseen, and the existence of a greater power.

Picking up on these things may depend on what you believe, how you believe, and to what extent you believe it -> to the point of walking it out.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to overstress this or cast any worry about time and place into your already busied/hurried mind, but if God has called you to go to a certain place – if you’ve heard that still-small voice within, I urge you, NO, I plead with you –

GO!!! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!

You’ll never know what’s on the other side of opening one door and walking through it, unless you take that step of faith in obedience.

I’ve said it before, the fear of doing something is always worse than the doing of it.

If you just did it, believing God wants you to, ESPECIALLY if you had the blessing of having a WORD from the LORD go before you, how can you fail?

If God is with you, who can be against you?

If you try to think about it too much, “What’ll happen? Will I have enough money? What if it doesn’t work out? What should I do when I get there?”, then you are leaning on your own understanding.

As Solomon wrote, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).”

What is life for anyway, if not for adventure?

Trust God, trust Him with your steps, trust Him with your future, trust Him with your aspirations, with your wellbeing even – it’s only then you’ll really get to experientially know him through your own walk, by having your walk be RIGHT NEXT TO Him.

Imagine He’s right next to you – that’s how it truly is, in the Spirit.

Let it play out, nothing bad will happen to you, you’ll probably be more blessed than ever.

For some people reading this right now, you’ve been held back, delayed, maybe unexpected consequences of staying in a place for far too long, past what God wanted you to stay there for, has come about.

Well, despite all of that I’m here to give you the Good News – it’s ok, it was all worth it.

In fact, the delay, the negative consequence, the inability to move forward has been for your benefit.

It’s actually grace.

Because if YOU did what YOU WANTED TO DO, then you would end up in a place that’s not as good for you, not as good as what God has for you.

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever (Ephesians 3:20-23.”

He can do exceedingly, abundantly more for you, with you, through you, than you could ever think or imagine – if you just OBEY!

You see, not all seeds can be planted in the same environents.

Some seeds won’t grow.

Some seeds won’t grow as well.

But some seeds, when you plant them in the best, choicest, most fertile environments, the spot that’s right for them, they can yield the best product in the world.

And your life is the seed!

Why not plant the seed in the very best environment for you?

Coffee is optimally grown at around 2,000-6,500 feet, often in subtropical climates.

Imagine a coffee plant being planted far below it’s optimal elevation, in a dry climate with limited rain.

That coffee, if it grew, would turn out not tasting right, not as good if it was planted at the heights God had intended it for.

God wants to plant you in the right place.

Ask Him, today, where He wants you.

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28 ESV).”

In closing – the only way that the Shepherd can lead you, a sheep (believer), is if you listen.

If you don’t listen to the shephered yourself, you’ll be lost following the sheepfold – hopefully the sheep around you know where they’re going and what they’re doing.

We have plenty of people that are sheeple, lost following the sheepfold.

Like Exodus, it’s all just movement after people.

This is modern day Christianity/religion in large part, taking man made doctrines as if they’re the doctrines of God (Matthew 15:9).

I’m sure God will provide for you regardless of if you try to hear Him directly or not, if you’re a Christian.

God even provides for the wicked (Matthew 5:45).

But my point is this – if you’re lost, and want to hear the shepherd, cry out for Him today.

Ask Him what He’d like for you to do, where He’d like you to go, and who He’d like you to speak to.

“For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls (1 Peter 2:25).”

Khalid mentioned “Let’s focus on communicating, cause I just need a time and place to come through.”

You can’t have a relationship without communication. Ask God what time and place He wants you to come through to His optimal location for you.

It’s His plan that reigns supreme and mighty above anything and everything else.
