The 49 commands of Christ

Written by:

God is amazing.

There are 49 commands of Christ in the Bible.

That is the number 7×7.

Many say that 7 is the number of completion, because God created the heavens, the earth, and even rested all within just 7 days.

Numbers certainly mean something.

If you’re not prophetic, you may not want to regard the significance of numbers, thinking that they may be linked to satanism or witchcraft.

But, if you understand spiritual things, you’ll realize that the significance and meaning of numbers show us a window into the spirit realm.

If you see repeating numbers, that probably means that God is with you or you’re headed in the right way.

If you don’t, you should seek the Lord to check and see if you’re actually doing the right thing, going the right way, or doing what God wants you to be doing.

God even named a book in the Bible, “Numbers”.

He numbered every hair on your head, (Luke 12:7).

49 is also the number of years in a jubilee, where the 50th year is a whole year “off” for the land to rest.

In a jubilee year, people in the land cease working, and all debts are forgiven, as well as land being renewed back to their original owner.

Jubilee years are mentioned in Leviticus chapter 25.

Anyways, without further ado, here is what you came for.

The 49 commands of Christ:

1. Repent

“From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.””

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭4‬:‭17‬

2. Follow Me

“Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.””

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭4‬:‭19‬

3. Rejoice

“Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭12‬

4. Let Your Light Shine

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬

5. Honor God’s Law

“From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭4‬:‭17‬-‭18‬

6. Be Reconciled

“Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭23‬-‭24‬

7. Do Not Commit Adultery

“If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭29‬-‭30‬

8. Keep Your Word

“But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭37‬

9. Go the Second Mile

“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also. And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭38‬-‭42‬

10. Love Your Enemies

“But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭44‬

11. Be Perfect

“Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭48‬

12. Practice Secret Disciplines

“Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭1‬

13. Lay Up Treasures

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭19‬-‭21‬

14. Seek God’s Kingdom

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭33‬

15. Judge Not

“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭1‬-‭2‬

16. Do Not Cast Pearls

“Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭6‬

17. Ask, Seek, and Knock

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭7‬-‭8‬

18. Do Unto Others

“Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭12‬

19. Choose the Narrow Way

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭13‬-‭14‬

20. Beware of False Prophets

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭15‬

21. Pray For Laborers

“Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.””

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭9‬:‭38‬

22. Be Wise as Serpents

“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭10‬:‭16‬

23. Fear Not

“Therefore do not fear them. For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known.”

24. Hear God’s Voice

“He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

25. Take My Yoke

“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

“Then Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.””

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭16‬:‭6‬

28. Deny Yourself

“Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭9‬:‭23‬

29. Despise Not Little Ones

“Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18‬:‭10‬

30. Go To Offenders

“Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18‬:‭15‬

31. Beware of Covetousness

“And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.””

‭‭Luke‬ ‭12‬:‭15‬

32. Forgive Offenders

“Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18‬:‭21‬-‭22‬

33. Honor Marriage

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭19‬:‭6‬

34. Be a Servant

“Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.””

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭20‬:‭26‬-‭28‬

35. Be a House of Prayer

“And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’ ””

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭21‬:‭13‬

36. Ask in Faith

“So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done. And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.””

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭21‬:‭21‬-‭22‬

37. Bring in the Poor

“Then He also said to him who invited Him, “When you give a dinner or a supper, do not ask your friends, your brothers, your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they also invite you back, and you be repaid. But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind. And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just.””

‭‭Luke‬ ‭14‬:‭12‬-‭14‬

38. Render to Caesar

“…And He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.””

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭22‬:‭21‬

39. Love the Lord

“Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭22‬:‭41‬

42. Take, Eat, and Drink

“And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28‬:‭19‬-‭20‬

These commands of Christ are not cumbersome, but rather they are beneficial so that we can live an abundant life, filled with righteous and good fruits.
